What is the age requirement for admission?

The criteria for admission is given below (Age is considered as on 31st December).

Pre KG/ Montessori 1 2 years to be completed
LKG/ Montessori 2 3 years to be completed
UKG/ Montessori 3 4 years to be completed
Class I 5 years to be completed


What is the admission procedure at Chennai Public School?

Procure Application form from the school office. Fill the application form legibly. Enclose all the documents and submit the filled-in application form at the school office within 3 working days. Take up Chennai Public School Scholastic Assessment Test (CPS-SAT)/interaction. Admission is granted on the basis of performance in CPS- SAT/interaction. Selected students will be intimated through SMS alerts.


How do we pay for the application fees?

The application fees may be paid in cash at the time of buying the application form.


What are the documents to be enclosed during submission of Application form?

Enclosures during submission of application forms are as follows:

  • Report card/ Mark statement / Equivalence certificate
  • Transfer Certificate (Original)
  • Copy of Passport for NRI applicants
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Parent’s Employment ID / Business Card

Is there any admission test or what are the admission criteria?

Admission is granted on 2 key factors. Firstly, the compliance to minimum age criteria and secondly, the child MUST pass the Chennai Public School Scholastic Assessment Test (CPS-SAT) for the desired class. Even if the child is eligible for a higher class by age, the result of the aptitude test would be final in deciding the class in which the child gets admitted.


What subjects are covered in the admission test?

The admission test covers the following subjects

Kindergarten /Montessori Interaction
Classes I – III English & Mathematics
Classes IV – X English, Mathematics, Science
The tests are specific to the grade level of the applicant.


Is there any preference for siblings in the admission process?

Yes, siblings get preferential admission, if there is space in the grade applied for and the child meets the admission criteria.


I am currently working overseas. Can the admission process be done online?

There is no option to download the application form online as of now. The application form can be acquired from the school office on all working days between 9.00 a.m and 3.00 p.m. by sending any of your local representatives. The form can be submitted by the same by attaching the scanned documents.


When my child is relocating to your CBSE School, would there be any difficulties he/she may face due to change in school?

Your child would be able to smoothly integrate at Chennai Public School and there will be minimal inconvenience to your child as personal care and support will be rendered to make the child extra comfortable to be on par with his/her peers.


If I am relocating from one country to another, which class would my child be admitted at Chennai Public School?

If your child comes from any other international school mid-session, generally the child continues in the same class or grade in which he/she was studying at the previous international school. If your child has completed a particular class/grade at the international school, then the child would join in the next grade.


Can my child seek admission during middle of the academic session?

Chennai Public School does allow mid-year admissions to children who are relocating with their parents based on the availability of vacancies in the respective class.

Yes. The school admits boys and girls from Preschool to Class XII.

We have the following Language options - Tamil, Hindi, Sanskrit & French for the students.
CBSE: 2nd language is taught from UKG/ Mont III level upto class X.
3rd language is taught from classes IV to VIII.

How do I reach or communicate with my child's teachers?

You can communicate with your child’s teachers through the intranet system which allows you to access all details of your child and academic information. The access user id and password are emailed to you after you enroll your child in the school. You can meet your child’s teachers during Parent – Teacher meetings. Parents can also take prior appointment to meet the teachers in school, after school working hours between 4.00 p.m and 4.30 p.m. Please seek an appointment with the teacher through the school reception.


When can I meet the Principal?

Parents can meet the Principal on all school working days between 3.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m by prior appointment. Please seek an appointment with the principal through the school reception.


Does Chennai Public School provide support for students with special needs and learning differences?

Chennai Public School has limited support for students whose learning differences become apparent after the student has joined the school and who are still able to function for the most part in mainstream classes. Chennai Public School does not admit students with already identified learning differences and special needs.


What is the purpose of the school diary?

The school diary is tool of communication between the teachers and the parents. A lot of information is available in the school diary and parents are requested to check it regularly for school events, announcements, celebrations, assessments, holidays etc.

How do the hostlers spend their weekends?

Chennai Public School Hostel is home-style centre where various weekend activities are organized in the campus to make them feel at home and regular outings are arranged under the supervision of the Head Warden.


When is the outing/visiting schedule for hostlers and who accompanies them?

Outing and visiting schedule is designed in such a way that hostlers get a fortnight break to meet their parents/ guardians. Parents can visit/take their wards out of the campus only during vacations and on holidays specially notified by the school authorities in the students-parents hand book. Outing is escorted by responsible wardens or House teachers.


When can the parents meet their wards in the hostel?

As per the visiting schedule, parents are allowed to meet their wards.


What is the mode of communication between the children and their parents?

Parents can call up and communicate with their wards on all weekdays between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. and on weekends between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.


How are parents informed about the progress of their ward?

Parents are informed quarterly about their child's progress at school. They can meet teachers on scheduled PTMs.
